On December 21, 2023, Ms. Rouka Kondo, a second-year student in the Department of Environmental and Urban Engineering, participated in a roundtable discussion hosted by Toyota City Hall in which citizens discussed the future prospects of the area around Toyota City Station.
This roundtable discussion hosted by the Toyota City Urban Development Division will focus on the area around Meitetsu Toyota City Station, which is undergoing development, and will be attended by representatives of citizens to discuss what they would like it to look like. In May 2023, second-year students from the Department of Environmental and Urban Engineering visited the Toyota City Urban Development Division with the cooperation of the Toyota City Urban Development Division as part of the “Introduction to Urban Development” lecture.

At that time, the Toyota City Urban Development Division asked the second-year students who visited the development project to participate in a roundtable discussion as a youth representative, and Ms. Kondo participated.
On the day of the event, in addition to Ms. Kondo, local residents and representatives of the shopping district were also in attendance. In the roundtable discussion, Ms. Kondo expressed her expectations for the development of the area around Toyota City Station, saying, “I want it to be a place that people want to visit in the city.”
The roundtable discussion will also be featured in the lifestyle magazine Toyota City Days Vol. 7, which is scheduled to be released in February 2024.
