On Sunday, November 17, the KOSEN Robocon 2024 National Tournament was held at the Ryogoku Kokugikan, and students from our school participated.
The name of the competition is “The Return of the Robots”, and after Robot 1 ejects another robot 2 and lands it, the ejected robot 2 collects the scoring object and returns. In order to operate the robot even after landing, it is necessary not only to have mechanical strength but also to take measures against impact on the circuit control system, so the students have been working on building the robot with ingenuity.
Our school faced Kisarazu KOSEN in the first game of the first round. I tried to get 100 points on the first Robot 2 ejection and landing, but unfortunately I bounced and moved and got 40 points. After that, they tried to add points by ejecting Robot 2 one after another, but Kisarazu KOSEN also scored 40 points, so the score was tied, and the judges decided that they would lose the first match.
We were able to deal with the problems that occurred at the venue with our knowledge, experience, and ingenuity, and we were able to move the robot and score points in the actual event. I was able to reaffirm the importance of machines, circuits, programs, and people working together to ensure that all functions work properly, and I was able to learn a lot. We will make use of what we have learned this time and work together with the students to create a robot with an even higher degree of perfection. We look forward to your continued support and cooperation in Robocon activities.
The tournament will be broadcast on NHK General Television from 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15.
