The award ceremony of the 4th Infrastructure Management Technology Contest 2023 was held on March 8, Reiwa 6. The Hayasaka and Ohata Lab. team from Toyota National College of Technology received the Waku Waku Award, the Platinum Award (Corporate Award), and the Regional Award.
The purpose of this contest is to encourage further growth as future researchers and engineers by thinking about how they can contribute to many issues such as aging infrastructure, frequent disasters, immature maintenance technology, and financial shortages. Thirty-one teams from 20 technical colleges nationwide competed in their works.
The “Waku Waku Award” received by our school is an award given to the team that receives the most votes from the sponsoring organizations. The sponsors are more than 50 construction companies, including Kajima Corporation and other super general contractors. Therefore, this award is given to the team that makes the most contribution to society.
The Hayasaka-Ohata Lab. team has teamed up with the Department of Information Engineering (2 students) and the Department of Environmental and Urban Engineering (3 students) to develop a system to support safety management at construction sites.
In recent years, we have developed a system that uses AI to manage safety at construction sites, which are aging due to labor shortages. With the newly developed system, an AI camera will be used to send photos and analysis results to site managers via Line, including photos of the wearing of safety equipment by all workers. As a result, site managers now have full control over the safety equipment worn by all workers.
