This contest is a competitive event for students held in parallel with the “Shirahama Symposium on Cybercrime” held every year in Shirahama.
Participating teams are required to become server administrators of client companies, investigate the causes of cyberattacks that occur in real time during the competition by operating actual servers and network equipment, take countermeasures, and finally compile a report.
This time, the first qualifying round, the second qualifying round, and the final (May 30) were all held remotely. Five teams made it to the finals: Nagoya Institute of Technology, Shizuoka University, Waseda University, and Kansai University.

In the finals, two students from Toyota National College of Technology and two regular course students from their homes each used VPN (Virtual Private Network) from their homes, connected to the competition network of Wakayama University, the host school, and four students worked together on WebEX (Cisco’s video conferencing system). We spent almost one day investigating the cause of the cyberattack and taking countermeasures.
