At the 13th High School Chair Design Contest organized by Japan School of Engineering and ITOKI, Sota Koko, a second-year student in the Department of Architecture, received the Judges’ Special Award. This year’s theme was “Traveling Chairs for Tomorrow.” Koko’s work is based on the idea that when the saddle of a mountain bike is removed, it becomes a stool, and it is given the title unique to Aichi Prefecture, “Ketta de ikomai”. The judges praised the proposal for being a new idea that not only allowed people to enjoy cycling to reach their destination, but also imagined how to have a good time at the destination they visited, and that it was a proposal that could be realized.
