Our students participated in the NHK Student Robocon 2024 ~ABU Asia-Pacific Robocon Representative Selection Tournament~ for the second consecutive year. We made adjustments and made improvements until the day of the tournament, but unfortunately we were eliminated from the preliminary round.
In the match against Toyohashi University of Technology, the winner of last year’s World Championships, our team scored 220 points, but our team lost because Toyohashi University of Technology met the victory condition (Muaban) in 1 minute and 20 seconds.
In the match against Shinshu University, our team scored a high score of 320 points, but because Shinshu University scored 350 points, our team fell one step short and lost.
Toyohashi Institute of Technology is the first team in the history of the tournament to win three consecutive titles, and will represent Japan at the ABU Robocon 2024 in Vietnam.

In this year’s competition, one of the two robots had to be an automatic robot, and the students made full use of various mechanisms and sensors to estimate their own position, run automatically, and automatically identify the scoring ball using image recognition using AI technology. Thanks to the efforts of the students, they were able to show off their features during the game.
In addition, in recognition of the ingenuity of the ball capture mechanism and the powerful movement, we received a special award from SMC Corporation.

We will continue to strive every day to contribute to the development of engineers through Robocon. We look forward to your continued support and cooperation in Robocon activities.
