  1. We won the Technical College Organization Award in the 2018 National College of Technology Collaboration Contest “Regional Disaster Prevention Capability Improvement Challenge”!

On Wednesday, March 27, 2018, the final judging meeting of the 2018 National College of Technology Organization-Disaster Prevention Research Collaboration Contest “Regional Disaster Prevention Capability Improvement Challenge” was held, and the Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory (Tanaka Lab) team of the Department of Environmental and Urban Engineering participated and received the National College of Technology Award!
This contest was held for the first time in FY30 for national technical colleges to compete on ideas and initiatives that challenge the possibility of helping to improve local disaster prevention and mitigation capabilities.
This team worked on the idea of “Tatami Championship ~Protecting Tatami Embankment, a traditional flood control method~” for tatami embankments on the Nagara River in Gifu Prefecture, and received the award in recognition of the uniqueness of the idea and its regional implementation.
