Overview of the educational program and the abilities to be acquired

“Mathematics, Data Science, and AI” are the basic knowledge of the digital society (so-called “reading, writing, abacus” grounding) as indicated in AI Strategy 2019, and Japan will contribute to solving global issues (SDGs) with the aim of realizing Society 5.0, and will contribute to the aging and population decline faced by mature societies. It is needed to solve social issues such as aging infrastructure ahead of other countries.

Background

Toyota National College of Technology has established the “Mathematics, Data Science, and AI Education Program (Literacy Level)” and is implemented for students enrolled in the first year of the associate degree program (regular course) after the third year of Reiwa. In the diverse learning environment of early higher education, which is full of experiments, practical training, and practical skills unique to technical colleges (technical colleges), and co-education with many students who have studied abroad and lived in dormitories, which is a characteristic of our school, the “Mathematics, Data Science, and AI Education Program (Literacy Level)” is certified by earning credits in related subjects for the purpose of acquiring the following abilities.

  1. Ability to recognize things that are connected to our lives and contribute profoundly to ongoing social change
  2. Ability to understand that society’s wide range of data and its areas of use can be useful in solving social issues
  3. Ability to understand the value created by combining diverse data with insights from different application areas
  4. Ability to understand considerations when using and storing data
  5. Ability to read, explain, and work with data
