On September 16, Reiwa 7, with the cooperation of the Toyota City Boccia Association, we held a boccia experience meeting and a discovery meeting for technical issues. Two students from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, one student from the Department of Civil Engineering, and three faculty and staff participated.
This initiative was triggered by the inquiry from the Toyota City Boccia Association to our school for cooperation in improving the competition equipment of the boccia competition. In the Toyota City Boccia Association, there are many athletes with physical handicaps, and we think that we can make use of our school’s manufacturing technology to improve competition equipment.
In the activity on September 16th, we were able to actually experience boccia competitions while being explained the history and rules of boccia competitions, and also taught by athletes who have participated in the Japan Championships. In addition, we listened to the points that need to be improved the competition equipment, and considered whether it was possible to make a prototype of the improved product using the machinery of the entrepreneur’s workshop that is maintained in our school in the future.
