At the 12th POLUS-PORUS-Student and Architectural Design Competition sponsored by Porus Co., Ltd., the team of Hina Tsubouchi and Kaho Okuda, fourth-year students in the Department of Architecture, won the UJ Award (Under Junior award).
This award is given to the 10 most outstanding entries among applicants, excluding graduate students and fourth-year university students.
The theme of this competition is “T-axis” houses/houses, and we were required to design completely new and joyful houses and houses that go beyond the conventional framework of “space (x-y-z)” thinking and incorporate the “T-axis (time axis)”.
Ms. TSUBOUCHI and Ms. OKUDA created a work called “A home that takes time and makes it easier – a proposal for a home that takes root in life and grows it with time.”
In a local community where the population is declining and there is a shortage of builders, we proposed a new way of life in which we can nurture our own homes as a “better place”.
A house does not have to be a finished product, and we believe that the process of creating a place while moving our hands will lead to the reconstruction of the local community, and through the self-build method that integrates design, client, and construction, we expressed that a “house to live and grow” can be a “place” that gently connects people, the community, time and space.
