From the 7th year of Reiwa, in the Inabu area, which is a mountainous area of Toyota City, volunteers from the Department of Civil Engineering of our school started community development activities together with local residents. This was triggered by a request from the Inatake Town Development Council, a non-profit organization comprised of residents of the Inatake Branch of Toyota City Hall and the Inatake area, to cooperate with the school’s environmental and urban engineering department, Associate Professor SATO Yuya, based on a comprehensive partnership agreement signed between Toyota City and the school.
As a kick-off activity, an exchange meeting was held on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at the “Acorn Theme Hall (commonly known as Inabu Lab)”, which is the activity base of the Inatake Town Development Council, which is adjacent to the roadside station “Donguri no Sato Inabu”. A total of about 40 people participated in the exchange event, including 9 students from the 2nd to 4th years of the Department of Environmental and Urban Engineering at our school, junior high school students living in the Inabu area, and local residents!
Many of our students visited the Inabu area for the first time, and some commented, “It’s so full of nature that I can’t believe it’s the same Toyota City where KOSEN is located!”
In the future, TOYOTA KOSEN students, faculty and staff will regularly visit the Inabu area and engage in community development activities together with local junior high school students and residents.
